Journalist Ted Iliff Explores Post World War II Germany in His First Novel “The Golden Times”

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ted Iliff, a career journalist and global news media consultant, has announced the release of his first novel–The Golden Times. Published by Rosedog Books, the novel is currently available in print and online.

The Golden Times is a historically based novel set in the American occupation zone in post-World War II Germany. It is a collection of oral histories and documented stories about what ordinary Germans did to survive those times, whether honorable or despicable.

“As a career journalist, I relish any opportunity to tell a story that is unusual and compelling. Throughout my life, I have heard incredible stories of perseverance and survival in postwar Germany from my German mother and her family and friends,” said Iliff. “These anecdotes, augmented by extensive research of the period, created a rich mix of history and drama that portrays occupied Germany’s struggle to emerge from total devastation while confronting its horrific Nazi legacy.”

Covering a topic rarely explored in fiction, The Golden Times aims to shed light on the effects of the war from a German perspective.

“It’s a story and an era that needs exposure and understanding, and that’s why I wrote The Golden Times,” added Iliff.
