by tediliff on December 13, 2009

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ted Iliff, an international media consultant, has been contracted by Internews to help local media professionals in Kabul, Afghanistan. Internews is an international media development organization that aims to empower local media worldwide.

Ted Iliff has previously provided media consulting for the Balkans, in Armenia and in Iraq. At a time when local news during wartime is imperative in keeping communities informed, Ted Iliff will be consulting with a local NGO named Nai to develop and train media professionals.

“This is similar to the kind of consulting I have done in other parts of the world, particularly in the Balkans, so I am eager for the opportunity with Internews,” remarked Ted Iliff. “I love the challenge of helping local media professionals in developing countries. Afghanistan is a tough place right now, but security for organizations such as Internews is good.”

Iliff’s work will focus on assessing Nai’s needs in terms of training resources, evaluating its current programs and then seeing how its activities can be expanded to meet the professional development needs of the growing Afghan media industry.
